30 Minutes, or its free!
Thereís a place in Australia, weíre you can just about guarantee that youíll receive your pizza in under 30 minutes. A bold claim? Maybe! But when you look at the facts behind this claim youíll understand why the owner can make it.

You see, Cary Wintle delivers pizzas for a living. And when you deliver pizzas in a 1990 GTti Charade, you deliver them quickly. Caryís GTti is 100% street driven (about 1000 km a week ñaccording to Cary) and itís far from standard! A large list of modifications makes this one quick GTti, and reads like a performance parts shopping list. High volume oil pump, larger injectors and to keep things cool a 4 core

radiator with twin thermos front and back. The somewhat tiny standard exhaust has been replaced with a hi-flow cat and a hand built 3" stainless item. The factory turbo setup has also received the once over with larger exhaust wheel, larger compressor with back-cut housing and a "home-built" blow off valve, which, according to Cary, is good for at least a second off of his 0-100Km/h times. The standard intercooler now has a water spray addition and the whole kit and caboodle is run by a factory spec Daihatsu twin board computer with boost set at 1.3 bar. Externally the GTti runs 15" Enkei rims and 195/50/15 Yokohama GP5ís. If you are looking at the photo and thinking, "Those arenít Enkei 15ís!" If thatís the case, then youíre right. The car rolls on Speedline 14"s when Cary is out rallying.

As you can probably imagine, a car that is used for Rally Racing also needs a decent suspension setup. This little weapon uses Daihatsu competition spec KYB shocks and is lowered 1.5" all around with Daihatsu lowered springs. To keep the car on the road through the corners Caryís GTti has integral camber/castor adjustment, HUGE 27-mm front swaybar and 18 mm (standard) rear swaybar. Daihatsu comp spec bushes throughout and welded and strengthened rear lower arms.

Realising that the overall package was not quite complete, Cary set forth and worked on the interior. A hand built roll cage built by Mark Bourne (Possum Bourne, the Rally Drivers, brother) sets the mood and adds to the overall safety of the car. Carbon Fibre/Kevlar composite rally bucket seats a 5 point Luke racing harness and the most important safety feature, a Kenwood stereo system.

As of yet Cary doesnít have any official times, but a legally hand timed 0-100, on private property with two people on board on a crisp winter night was just under 6 seconds. Not bad from a 3!!

Whatís next on the list? A complete custom exhaust from MRT and a water/air intercooler should help to get those pizzas to your door a little quicker.

Having a car like this leaves only one question in most peoples minds tho Cary. What the hell do you do with your spare time?
